Kara is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist living in Geelong with her husband and three young daughters. Growing up in Warrnambool, Kara knew she wanted to work with pregnancy, birth and babies from a young age. She travelled to Melbourne in 2002 to study Medicine at the University of Melbourne. Whilst there, she also completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in the field of Bioethics.
Kara undertook her specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at the Royal Women’s Hospital with a focus on caring for families with high risk pregnancies and birth. She currently has public hospital appointments at Barwon Health in Geelong, where she is a part of the team looking after women with complex twin pregnancies within the Maternal and Fetal Medicine Unit. Kara also enjoys providing high quality antenatal care at the Wathaurong Aboriginal Health Service in Geelong.
Kara has a passion for teaching and health communication. She is a Clinical Lecturer at Deakin University Medical School and is the co-founder of pregnancy podcast Pregnancy Uncut, a not-for-profit resource that explores the stories and experiences of women who have experienced complex or high risk pregnancies, with the aim to help families feel seen and heard in their pregnancy journeys.
Kara is passionate about providing high quality pregnancy and birth care, with a focus on supporting women to make their own informed choices around their care and birth experiences.
